  29. I think not. Look at what the US have contibuted in the way
  30. of crackers -- The Triscuit: a woven square made from wheat
  31. oil and salt, a true wonder of modern engineering; The Wheat
  32. Thin: no other cracker packs in the MIPS[1] like this thing,
  33. makes a pentium seem as powerful as a hunk of fused silicon;
  34. and of course the humble Goldfish Cracker: the sheer
  35. quantities in which they are used is what has made CAD/CAM[2]
  36. possible today in ways it was never used before.

  38. And the Europeans what have they given us? Nothing recently:
  39. the matzo to saltine upgrade was clever but that was a long
  40. time ago; the Cracked Pepper Water Cracker is indeed
  41. impressive but its applications have been so limited that it
  42. can hardly count as a major development.
